Mission Statement
The Pre-Law Society at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) strives to serve as a liaison between its members, former law students, practicing lawyers, law school admission officers, and effective LSAT preparatory resources in order to foster a community of all persons interested in legal education, the legal field or general interest in the law.
Goals
Our current goals are as follows:
- Maintain an active Pre-Law Community here at UIC
- Develop better communication amongst other UIC student organizations
- Ensure that Executive Board Members go onto bigger and better opportunities

Our Faculty Advisor
Dr. Evan McKenzie, J.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and an Adjunct Professor in the Real Estate Program at The John Marshall Law School. He teaches and writes on issues of law and urban policy, land use, housing, and privatization of local government functions. He is one of the world's leading authorities on homeowner and condominium associations. He is an attorney, consultant, and expert witness who has represented homeowner and condominium associations and owners in complex litigation cases concerning the Operation of Community Associations, Land Use, Construction Defect, and Insurance Bad Faith among other subjects.
In addition to being the Head of the Political Science Department, as well as the Pre-Law Advisor for Political Science majors, Dr. McKenzie is the faculty advisor for the Pre-Law Society at the University of Illinois at Chicago. LAS Pre-Law Advisor Mr. Bradley Mueller: Mr. Mueller received his J.D. from the John Marshall Law School here in Chicago. During law school, he clerked at a small Loop firm and was hired by the firm as an associate attorney upon passing the Illinois bar exam, practicing there for 25 years. His practice areas included healthcare, adult guardianships and minors' estates, and collections. Currently he is a volunteer attorney at Cabrini Green Legal Aid.
The focus of pre-law advising appointments is on topics directly related to the decision to apply to law school, the law school application process and legal career options. Students should log on to Insight to schedule an appointment.
During the academic year, Mr. Mueller expects to facilitate many useful events for interested pre-law students, such as presentations/workshops on things like LSAT prep, personal statements, and law school information sessions.
